Cake in the Rain!

On the last Tuesday of each month we will be hosting a series of shows on the Middle Floor at the Greenlane Gallery Dingle. These vernissages will showcase our talented and vibrant resident artists. The gallery is home to more than fifty artists and we are committed to working in partnership with them to promote their work and our unique Irish arts culture.

We kicked off last Tuesday evening with our first exhibition of the series by local artist Michael Flaherty. Michael Flaherty’s Wild Atlantic Way exhibition titled ‘Cake in the Rain!’ captures the apocalyptic power of nature and emotional intensity true of the Wild Atlantic terrain. Born in Cloghane, Co. Kerry, Michael depicts scenes and objects which are familiar to him but that have been filtered through his imagination. In a highly personal style his paintings have a remarkably assured technique which is incredibly fresh and incredibly instant. His paintings are spontaneous and lyrical, and instil a wondrous frenetic intensity. He is uninhibited in his use of paint, working in layers of thick, painterly impasto to the third dimension, and his colours are bold, vibrant, daring and unconventional.
