Vincent Crotty, ‘Peig Sayers’, oil on canvas, 70 x 100 cm
July has been a hive of activity here in the gallery. The month saw stunning new work been exhibited by the much admired, Irish born, artist Vincent Crotty and our own celebrated local artist Tomás Ó’ Cíobhaín. James Mac Carthy also added new exquisite bronze sculptures to his collection.
We were also thrilled to welcome new artists Lorraine May and Heidi Wickham to Greenlane. Lorraine’s work captures wonderfully a sense of space in vast panoramic open landscapes, and brings an energetic and colourful abstraction to the gallery. Heidi’s work is beautifully majestic. Her animal subjects are both intense and sombre in colour, but yet they have a playful and gentle undertone. And in just the last week we received work from award winning photographer Dominique Beyens. Dominique’s black and white prints combine his fascination of old printing techniques with the aged landscape, and are infused together beautifully.
Tomás Ó’ Cíobháin,’`Inis na Bró’ (an Scoilt I), oil on canvas, 61 x 51 cm
Heidi Wickam, ‘Polar Bear sleeping’, compressed charcoal, 60 x 60 cm
Lorraine May, Series 2 ‘Untitled no.36’, oil on canvas, 80 x 80 cm
Yet more stunning pieces were added to our handcrafted jewellery collection. We’re now stocking an even greater range of Alan Ardiff’s amazing kinetic pieces, as well as Mary K’s vermeil crafted jewellery. Beautiful and charming new bangles from Corona also came into the gallery. They carry enchanting inspirational inscriptions:
‘You can achieve it .. if you can dream it’
Annabel Langrish’s prints and textiles, as well as the much loved teapots, cups and brooches by ceramicist Doirin Sauras, have both extended their collections and have new work coming into the gallery this week!
Lastly, we sadly had to say goodbye to Elouise, one of our own members of staff. She will be fondly missed by us here at the gallery, but we’d like to wish her the very best of luck in the future. An outstanding artist and painter, we know Elouise will be a great success!!
We hope you have a very happy bank holiday weekend!!
Go raibh míle maith agat!
