– Sirens & Goddesses –

NELL COLLINS & DENIS LYNCH

Venue: The Greenlane Gallery Paris

Date: 23rd March – 4th April, 2010

Official Opening: Thursday 25 March at 6pm

The Irish Ambassador to France, Paul Kavanagh, is to unveil a show by exciting Irish talents titled Sirens & Goddesses. It is the first time these artists have showcased their work together, in Paris, and it is set to be a captivating mix.

The exhibitionis a fusion of two very different styles, with paintings by Nell Collins and sculpture by Denis Lynch. The contrast is startling – even more so when considering that both artists are inspired by the same Celtic root.

“My philosophy towards art is that it is a force of positivity and beauty which fights against the grey and mundane,” explains Collins. It is philosophy that is evident in her work.

Lynch’s work in contrast is more raw. For ‘Sirens and Goddesses’ he has created a series of ‘sheela na gigs’ which he explains “are female pagan fertility symbols.”

The ‘Sirens and Goddesses’ exhibition offers a unique opportunity to meet the artists who will themselves curate the show for the duration of the exhibition.
